Over fifty years ago, MCMI began by providing community-based supportive services, emergency food banks, and clothing closets. Today, we have expanded our reach by addressing three main areas of need in order to enhance quality of life for those we serve. These three areas are: education, and employment assistance, and leadership development.
MCMI helps individuals served with educational endeavors that will support their future success. Beginning with skills in financial management and budgeting, connection with high school diploma and GED programs, enrollment into industry credentialed training, and much more. Our team is dedicated to promoting educational skills and development of our service recipients, which translates to community development and expanded opportunities.
Leadership development is key to future success. Many youth aren’t trained in leadership skills and struggle with holding down a job. In all of our programs, Metro applies the principles of Transformational Leadership — a four-phase leadership development model.
A transformational leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group.
Metro provides job search and placement assistance to recently released ex-offenders as well as other community members. We do this by partnering with local employers and career centers.
Recently, Metro provided job training and educational opportunities to high-risk youth through the use of crew-based community service teams. Service activities include community gardens at local schools, community beautification projects, clean urban canals and urban tree planting projects.
As a result, Metro has helped hundreds of target area youth to become more employable, while protecting the country’s natural environment.
